Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School is an active researching place for the Faculty of Education of Chulalongkorn University. The main role of the school is not only providing great educational experience but also producing new educational research for secondary school study in order to develop the knowledge in managing classes. Moreover, the new credible research can be spread through academic realms and institutions. This department also plays a role in deciding on activities for the progression of the school by using evaluation results from suggestion projects for the improvement moving forward. In addition, the department is coordinating with other institutions to collect data for consideration.

The department’s two main priorities are research and services in academics which are organized by
1. Advisory Committee; Director, Former Deputy Director of the Research department, Deputy Dean of the Research department of Education Faculty and Research professors.
2. Operating Committee; Deputy director as the chairman, Assistant Director as the vice-chairman, Representative professors from the department/ student development activities, Secretary and Assistant Secretary.

Furthermore, there are minor committees working on important jobs for the department

1. Accelerate, encourage, and support research professors to create new knowledge and innovation for secondary school study.
2. Encouraging the usage of credible research to expand the knowledge or spark new kind of research in the future.
3. Working on institutional research including projects evaluation to bring results for making decisions and improving on the ongoing projects
4. Publishing new knowledge from research and main theories to service academically to professors and educational institutions inside and outside the school.

Department’s Operation
The two main works are 1. Research and 2. Academic Services

1.  Research 
     1.1 Research and Development to support professors in researching and developing to strengthen the management of classes for students and create leadership in studies which enforces by
            1.1.1 Arranging projects to support professors’ research.
            1.1.2 Arranging training operations to review and enhance technological knowledge to professors.
            1.1.3. Encouraging professors to participate in external institute research seminar.
            1.1.4  Finding research funds from inside and outside in order to coordinate and publicize to professors.
            1.1.5  Managing the support budget for research.
            1.1.6  Publishing documents such as booklets for knowledge and sources for professors.

    1.2  Occasional and situational institutional research to help make decisions according to the school’s policy.

    1.3 Evaluating school projects by designing assessments.

Assessment tools such as collecting poll data to analyze and summarize projects evaluation for improving activities in the future

6.  Buddhist Lent Candle and Rain-Bathing Robe project.
7.  Wai Kru Ceremony project.
8.  Queen Sirikit remembrance and offering blessings to Her Majesty on her birthday project.
9.  Talk with Teachers Day project.
10.   Appreciation of teachers and officers’ retirement day ceremony project.
11.   Satit Samakkee project.
12.   Parents Meeting for grade 9 student project.
13.   Loy Kratong Day project.

2.  Academic Services  is divided into 3 parts

1.  Services in arranging academic seminars by internal and external lecturers for teachers and officers of the school to train/cultivate.
2.  Services in arranging external seminars by the school lecturers; these seminars are aimed at servicing outside personnel, which can be held at the school or other institutes.
3.  Services by coordinating with external institutions or receiving external support. The schoolteachers or external officers take part in doing the lecture in supported seminars, which external lecturers would be appropriately invited by the school.

The department has been collecting professors’ data in order to give academic services on education subject and also the data of every lecturer that has been given to use going forward.
