History of the Curriculum and Teaching Unit

Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School was founded on June 20, 1958 by Professor Thanpuying Poonsap Nopwongse Na Ayudhya. The primary academic objective was to serve as a Teacher Professional Training Institution (Lab School) for students of the Faculty of Education.

Before graduating as complete and competent bachelors, all Faculty of Education students must gain experience in teaching and instruction by having the opportunity to conduct experimental teaching at Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School, covering both the primary and secondary levels, as well as various other subjects.

Furthermore, Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School serves as an academic source for experimenting with various teaching theories developed by the Faculty of Education. Therefore, the widely circulated teaching theories in Thai academic community have all been tested and utilized at Chula Demonstration School beforehand.

Consequently, academic work, especially in curriculum and teaching, is considered of utmost importance to Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School. In the initial stage, the administration of various departments was integrated and handled solely by the Headmaster. The early Headmasters of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School were knowledgeable and dedicated their working lives to the school, including Professor Ampai Sucharitkul and Professor Dr. Ubol Riangsuwan, among others.

The Curriculum and Teaching Unit of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School is committed to developing the curriculum and managing secondary education to meet international standards. This is aimed at developing students to possess knowledge, ethics, and full learning potential, while simultaneously promoting and supporting the school to be an excellent teacher professional development center and a reference source in the field of education.

Mission

1. To develop the curriculum and manage secondary education to meet international standards, capable of producing students who are equipped with both knowledge and ethics.
2. To promote and support students to possess aesthetics in learning and to be able to use learning processes as tools for seeking knowledge and developing themselves to their full potential.
3. To provide professional teaching experience for student teachers/trainees, enabling them to become competent leaders in the teaching profession and leaders in society.
4. To promote and support the continuous academic development of the school's staff.
5. To continuously enhance the academic quality of in-service secondary school teachers.
6. To develop knowledge bodies and educational innovations to serve as an academic service center and a national reference source in the field of education.
