History
Science and Technology Learning Area were established in 1969, the same year the Faculty of Education divided the internal administrative of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School into two divisions: the Primary Division (Grades 1–6) and the Secondary Division. At that time, the Secondary Division managed education for Grade 7 and Secondary 1–5 (M.S. 1–5), which is equivalent to today’s Grades 7–12 (Matthayom 1–6).
In the early stages, the department received teaching support from faculty members of both the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Science. Later, as the university provided more personnel quotas, the department began to have its own dedicated faculty members and established a succession of departmental heads. Following the national education reform under the National Education Act B.E. 2542 (1999), the "Science Department" was officially renamed to be the "Science Learning Area" in the 2001 academic year.
In the 2020 academic year, the school’s departmental structure was reorganized to align with the revised Basic Education Core Curriculum (Revised Edition B.E. 2560). Consequently, faculty members from the Technology strand (formerly under the Career and Technology Learning Area) joined the department, leading to its current name: the "Science and Technology Learning Area.
Currently, the Science and Technology Learning Area consist of 26 faculty members.
