Department of Foreign Languages

Foreign Languages Learning Area offers instruction in five languages: English, German, French, Japanese, and Chinese. In addition to classroom teaching, our faculty members serve as advisors for student language clubs and activities, such as International Week, English Camp, and various departmental news.

History

  • 1958: Established as the English Department alongside the founding of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School. As French and German were added to the curriculum, the department was renamed the Foreign Language Department.
  • 2001: Japanese language instruction was introduced.
  • 2005: Chinese language instruction commenced.
  • 2006: Renamed the "Foreign Language Learning Area" in accordance with the National Education Act of B.E. 2542 (1999).

Today, to meet the demands of globalization and the ASEAN Community, we support comprehensive language learning for students at the secondary level. English is taught to all students, while German, French, Japanese, and Chinese are offered to students in the Arts-Language track. Additionally, foreign language electives are available for students at all levels who wish to explore languages beyond English.

Beyond our commitment to language instruction and nurturing students under the school’s philosophy of "Knowledge and Ethics," we also provide professional teaching experience and training for teacher interns from the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.

Vision
